Spring Seeds

Days are getting longer - we have passed the magic spring solstice!
We are also in week 2 of the "social distancing" restriction in Austria. We are so glad to have our little garden, the weather has been cold but sunny, only around 10 °C at day and down to -5 at night. We are still starting the new spring seeds, keeping them inside the workshop.
Every seed is like a grain of hope.
"Don't judge each day by the harvest your reap but by the seeds you plant." - Robert Louis Stevenson
This is how we do it:
Sieve the soil to obtain a really fine quality, so it is easier for the young plants to push through.
Fill up your pots and boxes.
Plant your seeds - cover gently with a thin layer of soil. As a general rule you can remember: If you seed is 1 cm thick - cover with 1 cm of soil etc.
Water them a little bit.
Wait and see what's popping out.
This is what we are planting this year: tomatoes, zucchini, basil, cucumber, cabbage, carrots, parsnip, leek, onions, garlic, green beans and many more!
